FAQ

What is a good espresso brew ratio?

A 1:2 ratio (for example 18 g of coffee to 36 g of espresso) is the usual starting point. Go shorter (1:1.5) for more body, longer (1:2.5 or more) for light roasts.

Should I measure espresso yield by weight or volume?

By weight. Crema makes volume unreliable, so put a scale under the cup.

What ratio should I use for pour-over?

Between 1:15 and 1:17 covers most tastes. 1:16 is a balanced default.
